UÇK leaders' supporters launch global campaign ahead of Hague verdict

Supporters of former Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK) leaders are launching a global campaign ahead of a significant court decision in The Hague on September 16. The campaign includes a digital display in New York’s Times Square, where the message ‘Freedom for the Liberators’ will appear hourly.

In Kosovo, the ‘Freedom has a Name’ platform has installed a countdown clock on Nënë Tereza Boulevard in Prishtina, with similar installations in Prizren and Düsseldorf, Germany. A large-scale march, described by organizer Ismail Tasholli as potentially the most massive in six years, is scheduled for September 12 at 14:00 in Skënderbeu Square, Prishtina.

The demonstrations support four former UÇK leaders—Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli, and Rexhep Selimi—who have been held in isolation since November 2020 facing charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Defense lawyers have denied all accusations, characterizing them as baseless.
