UK local businesses undergo major refurbishments via government grants

Local businesses in Wrexham and Bridgnorth have completed significant refurbishments supported by government grant funding.

Marrubi’s, Wrexham’s oldest café established in 1896, has undergone extensive internal and external renovations. The project, funded by Wrexham Council and the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns programme, included roof repairs, window replacements, and masonry work to preserve the building’s traditional character. The café is currently operated by the fifth generation of the same family.

In Bridgnorth, Catherine’s Bakery has successfully transitioned from smaller premises into a former derelict bank. Supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund through the West Midlands Growth Programme and a Small Equipment Grant, the expansion allowed the business to retain historic features like original safes while doubling its workforce from six to 12 staff members.
