UK local councils launch public consultations on regional development plans

Local authorities in the United Kingdom are conducting public consultations regarding new local development plans.

Wiltshire Council has launched an early-stage engagement process to determine the contents and engagement methods for its new Local Plan. The consultation, running from September 2 to September 30, 2026, seeks community input on how the plan should guide future development, infrastructure, and services. Public engagement sessions are scheduled in Trowbridge.

In West Oxfordshire, the council has released a Draft Local Plan covering proposed planning policies through 2043. This final stage of consultation focuses on the plan's legal compliance and soundness, addressing housing, employment, climate change, and nature recovery. The consultation period remains open until October 9, 2026, with various drop-in events scheduled in Witney, Carterton, and Chipping Norton.
