UK local councils propose new parking and traffic restrictions

Local authorities in different parts of the United Kingdom are conducting public consultations regarding proposed changes to parking and traffic regulations to improve road safety and accessibility.

In Takeley, Essex County Council is considering the introduction of red route parking restrictions on Parsonage Road. The proposal aims to address issues caused by holidaymakers and commercial operators, which have reportedly hindered bus access and reduced visibility for road users. Residents are encouraged to submit feedback by September 11.

In Hassocks, the Parish Council is seeking input on three specific traffic changes near Keymer Road. The proposals include installing no loading/no stopping signs to protect pedestrian crossings, implementing double yellow lines at the entrance to John Saxby Place to prevent blocked access, and adding double yellow lines on sections of Keymer Road to improve traffic flow and visibility. The consultation period remains open until September 21.
