UK local councils review major holiday park and colliery redevelopment plans

In Sidmouth, the Tourism, Economy, Arts and Culture Committee has expressed support for a redevelopment plan at Kings Down Tail Caravan and Camping Park in Salcombe Regis. The proposal includes the installation of 59 static caravan bases with decking, a spa, a gym, and a reception area. While previous discussions raised concerns regarding whether the site would shift from traditional camping to a predominantly static holiday park, the committee raised no objections and recommended the plans proceed to the town council’s Planning Committee. Kings Down Tail Ltd stated the project aims to improve accommodation quality and ensure long-term business viability.

In Newton-le-Willows, St Helens Council is set to debate a major development proposal for the former Parkside Colliery site. The hybrid application by Parkside Regeneration LLP, a joint venture between St Helens Council and Langtree, focuses on phase two of a comprehensive redevelopment at Parkside West to provide significant employment floorspace. The application has been brought back before the committee to allow for a full reconsideration following new information regarding the development's relationship with the Western Rail Chord and the proposed strategic rail freight interchange.
