UK lottery winners invest £148.6 million in 38 properties

Adrian and Gillian Bayford, a couple from Haverhill, Suffolk, transformed their lives after winning £148.6 million (approximately 5,000 billion VND) in the UK lottery in 2012.

Rather than spending the windfall on luxury goods, the couple, who previously worked as delivery drivers, focused on real estate investment. They initially spent roughly £6.085 million to acquire a large estate in Cambridgeshire, featuring a mansion, cinema, gym, pool, and various outbuildings. Over time, they expanded their portfolio to include 38 properties.

Despite the financial security, the couple has faced challenges managing their extensive holdings. Adrian Bayford noted difficulties with tenants who, upon learning of his lottery win, attempted to negotiate lower rents or pressured him for financial concessions.
