UK man sentenced for fraud after securing nursery job with fake documents

Christian Parry, a 27-year-old from Midlothian, Lincolnshire, has been sentenced to an additional two years in prison for fraud by false representation. This sentence will be added to his existing three years and eight months for previous offenses, bringing his total prison term to five years and eight months.

Parry had been arrested in May 2025 while working at a nursery on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children. Police investigations into his electronic devices uncovered thousands of child sexual abuse images and videos. Despite being under active police investigation, Parry managed to secure employment at a different nursery in the same town just two months later.

To obtain the position, he used forged letters of recommendation and fake email addresses to mislead employers about his professional history. The case has raised significant questions regarding the effectiveness of the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. It was noted that the employer used a DBS update service, which checks for information not leading to a conviction within a nine-month period, allowing Parry's ongoing investigation to remain undetected.
