London Stock Exchange to launch 24‑hour trading platform in 2027

The London Stock Exchange (LSE) announced plans to create a separate night‑time market, dubbed LSE 24, slated to begin operation in the first half of 2027. The venue will run independently of the main market and will be open from 17:00 to 07:50 London time, with a 30‑minute break between 18:30 and 19:00 for end‑of‑day processing.

Initially, LSE 24 will offer trading in exchange‑traded products (ETPs) that track UK and US equity indices. The exchange intends to expand the product range later, potentially adding equities and other securities. The platform will incorporate “agentic” AI‑driven trading tools, and its launch is contingent on regulatory approval.

LSE executives say the move aims to give global retail investors, especially those in Asia, continuous access to London‑listed assets and to counter growing competition from cryptocurrency exchanges that already operate 24/7. Julia Hoggett, CEO of LSE, highlighted the city’s time‑zone advantage and the rising demand for round‑the‑clock trading.
