UK Minister states Britain is not at war with Russia
Louise Sandher-Jones, the Minister for the Armed Forces, informed Parliament that while Britain is not at war with Russia and does not seek confrontation, the country is facing a campaign of hybrid attacks and sabotage across Europe.
Sandher-Jones noted that Russia is constantly probing and testing the UK through military posturing. In response to increasing threats, the UK intends to increase its warfighting readiness and fulfill its NATO commitments. The government also emphasized its unwavering support for Ukraine and its readiness to defend all NATO territory.
Recent government reports, including the Arctic Policy Framework, have identified threats to critical national infrastructure from Russia’s Main Directorate for Deep-Sea Research. Additionally, the Lunna House Agreement with Norway has committed both navies to protecting undersea cables and pipelines in the North Atlantic.
