UK Ministry of Defence and Alloyed develop new turbojet engines

The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) has partnered with startup Alloyed to develop a family of digitally manufactured turbojet engines. The collaboration has successfully moved an 1100N-class engine from initial concept to flight-ready status in less than seven months, while a 300N-class engine has completed flight testing and entered serial production.

The program, led by the MOD’s Strategic Capabilities Office, utilizes digital engineering and modeling to accelerate development timelines from years to months. The resulting engines span a thrust range of 30N to 2000N, intended to power platforms ranging from small drones to larger aircraft.

This initiative aims to establish a sovereign propulsion capability for the UK, allowing the nation to design, manufacture, and sustain critical defense technology independently. The program has already created over 60 engineering and advanced manufacturing jobs and supports a supply chain involving more than 40 UK suppliers.
