UK Ministry of Defence deploys upgraded cyber security platform

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has deployed an upgraded security information and event management (SIEM) and analytics platform to support its Defence Cyber Operations (DCO) team. The deployment aims to modernize military network protection and address the limitations of traditional SIEM platforms, which struggled to keep pace with sophisticated threats and the high volume of sensitive traffic across globally distributed networks.

The project is a collaborative effort between IT services provider Centerprise and software company Elastic. Centerprise is responsible for commercial delivery, support, enablement, and governance frameworks. Elastic provides the core SIEM capabilities and advanced technical expertise through a tiered support model.

The new architecture is designed to centralize data, allowing cyber operators to maintain a common operational picture. This unified visibility is intended to accelerate threat detection and mission response, helping analysts identify and contain malicious activity across cyber, information, and physical domains before it can disrupt military operations.
