UK motorway crashes injure multiple passengers on M8 and M61

A six‑person crash involving a Mercedes Vito minivan and an HGV on the M8 near Chapelhall, Scotland, left three adults and three children hospitalized after the collision in the early hours of 11 July. Police sealed the road for investigation and reopened it around 7:30 am, while detectives appealed for witnesses and dash‑cam footage.

On 12 July, a separate incident on the M61 southbound between junctions 3‑4 near Manchester resulted in three people being taken to hospital after a car was severely crushed in a collision with another vehicle. Fire crews and police attended the scene, stabilised the victims and cleared the lane after about fifty minutes.

Both crashes prompted emergency responses and road closures, highlighting ongoing safety concerns on Britain’s motorways.
