UK motorway crashes on M25 and M5 trigger hours of traffic delays

A multi‑vehicle collision in the Holmesdale Tunnel on the M25 near London on June 26 blocked three lanes and caused up to 65‑minute delays over four miles of the anticlockwise carriageway. Emergency services attended the scene, but the number of injuries remains unclear.

The following day, a separate multi‑vehicle crash near Portishead on the M5 northbound at junction 19 caused traffic to halt, creating five to six miles of congestion and delays of around 75 minutes. Witnesses reported police and ambulance presence, and a caravan was among the vehicles involved.
