UK motorways face closures after collisions on the M6 and in Leicester

On Sunday, 26 July 2026, a collision involving a black Ford on the southbound M6 between Junction 13 (Stafford South) and Junction 12 (Cannock) led to the closure of all southbound lanes. Emergency services arrived around 07:45 am and two lanes were reopened after a hydraulic‑arm lorry and a recovery vehicle cleared the scene. The remaining lane closure lasted until just after 12 pm, leaving motorists with several hours of residual delays.

The following day, 27 July 2026, a separate incident near the Maidenwell Avenue roundabout in Leicester (Preston Rise) prompted police to close the road in both directions. An air ambulance landed on site as officers cordoned the area and multiple vehicles were photographed within the cordon. Drivers were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes while the closure remained in effect.
