UK MPs condemn handling of asylum cases and new housing scheme

Leicestershire MP Alberto Costa called the presence of convicted people‑smuggler Twana Jamal in Blaby "utterly unacceptable" and urged the Home Office to intervene, after a BBC investigation linked the trafficker to two local mini‑markets.

Conservative MP Mark Pritchard demanded an immediate halt to a plan to house asylum seekers in newly built £250,000 homes in the Shropshire village of Stoke Heath, pressing the Home Secretary to stop further placements.

Both MPs highlighted concerns over the treatment of asylum-related matters and called for stronger government action.
