UK music festivals implement climate and drought measures
Major UK music festivals are implementing new measures to address environmental and climate challenges. Leeds Festival, held at Bramham Park, has launched the ‘Look Out For Our Planet’ pledge. This initiative includes a commitment to clear campsites within two weeks, the use of local litter-picking volunteers, and the introduction of ‘Repariums’ stalls to repair damaged gear through local Repair Cafe networks. Additionally, the festival aims to eliminate single-use plastics by serving drinks in aluminium cans.
Meanwhile, the All Points East festival in London’s Victoria Park is preparing for operations amid record-setting drought conditions. To prevent the dust issues experienced last year, AEG, the festival organizer, has implemented extra ground protection, including plastic coverings in high-footfall areas. Following previous dust concerns, AEG worked with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to perform extensive reseeding in the park to strengthen the ground ahead of the event.
