UK National Crime Agency launches internal probe after leak of Reform UK MPs' bank details

The National Crime Agency (NCA) has opened an internal investigation after allegations that staff leaked the bank transaction data of Reform UK politicians Nigel Farage and Richard Tice. The agency has referred the matter to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which ordered a formal internal inquiry. The leak concerns information supplied to the NCA under its Suspicious Activity Reports programme, which handles roughly 3,000 reports per working day. Both Farage and Tice have condemned the breach, with Tice calling the agency’s response “outrageous” and vowing not to tolerate further leaks. The NCA reported it has found no evidence of wrongdoing by the politicians themselves. Leaking SAR‑related information is a criminal offence under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

The investigation follows earlier media reports linking Farage’s associate George Cottrell to suspicious financial transactions involving loans and donations to entities linked to Reform UK.
