UK nurseries receive recognition for sustainability and eco-friendly initiatives
Two UK-based nurseries have received recognition for their commitment to environmental sustainability and education.
Cornerstone Nurseries completed a Green Business Review through the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s Green Team. The review assessed the company across seven areas, including energy, water, waste, and supply chain management. Following its Better Business for Good (BBfG) verification, the company is now progressing toward BBfG Elevate to further strengthen its climate action goals.
Little Treasures Nursery in Great Sankey was presented with the Eco-Schools: Early Years Green Award. The nursery has implemented several eco-friendly initiatives, such as installing solar panels, switching to LED lighting, using reusable glass bottles instead of plastic, and offering meat-free meals. The award recognizes the integration of environmental learning into daily activities, including gardening and recycling, to foster lifelong sustainable habits in children.
