UK pensioners may qualify for additional weekly health support
State pensioners in the United Kingdom living with certain health conditions may be eligible for additional weekly support through Attendance Allowance. According to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), eligible residents in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland can receive a lower rate of £76.70 per week if they require assistance or supervision during the day or night.
A higher rate of £114.60 per week is available for those requiring help both day and night, or those nearing the end of life as determined by a medical professional. While there is no official checklist of qualifying medical conditions, the DWP uses a guide of common disabling conditions to assist in determining eligibility. In Scotland, equivalent support is provided via the Pension Age Disability Payment (PADP) at the same rates.
