UK PIP claimant figures reveal regional variations

New data from the Department for Work and Pensions reveals varying rates of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claims among working-age adults across several UK constituencies.

In Clwyd East, 6,001 working-age adults claim PIP, representing 10.7 per cent of the constituency's working-age population. Nationally, analysis shows that while some areas have rates as low as one in 30, others exceed one in six. In Somerset, Weston-super-Mare recorded the highest claimant rate at 10.8 per cent, followed by Bridgwater at 8.8 per cent and Tiverton & Minehead at 8.5 per cent. North Somerset reported the lowest rate in the county at 5.6 per cent.

PIP is a benefit designed to assist individuals with long-term physical or mental health conditions or disabilities with everyday tasks and additional living costs. The highest claimant rate nationally was recorded in Liverpool Walton at 19.3 per cent.
