UK police roll out new domestic abuse support programmes

Devon and Cornwall Police launched a Male Ally Network in Cornwall, inviting men and boys to discuss how to prevent violence against women and girls. At the launch, more than 160 people attended, about half of them men, and participants pledged to challenge abusive behaviour and promote empathy.

Dyfed‑Powys Police began the second phase of “Raneem’s Law”, embedding a full‑time Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) within its Force Communication Centre. Funded by the Home Office and named after Raneem Oudeh and her mother Khaola Saleem, who were murdered in 2018 after repeated police calls for help, the role aims to identify high‑risk cases early and provide specialist advice, safety planning and emotional support to victims of domestic abuse.
