UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham welcomes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky

Britain’s new prime minister Andy Burnham will receive Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday, the first foreign leader to visit the United Kingdom since Burnham took office. The two are set to meet at a naval base where they will inspect the Sea Breeze maritime‑security and counter‑mine exercise that has involved more than 200 Ukrainian service members during the past three weeks.

During the visit Burnham said the United Kingdom’s support for Ukraine remains “unwavering” and that Russia should have no doubt about Britain’s resolve. He also announced that the UK will share the intellectual‑property of the electronic‑interference system “Stone Cloak” with Kyiv, enabling Ukraine to produce tablet‑size devices that jam Russian air‑defence drones. Total UK aid to Ukraine since the 2022 invasion has reached £25 billion – £16 billion in military assistance and £5.6 billion in non‑military support. After the London meeting Zelensky is scheduled to travel to Washington for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump.
