UK Prime Minister visits Ukraine to announce missile production deal
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has visited Ukraine to mark 35 years of the nation's independence from the Soviet Union. During the visit, the UK announced a new agreement allowing Ukraine to begin domestic production of British Storm Shadow cruise missiles to bolster its defense against Russian aggression.
In Ukraine, Prime Minister Burnham met with President Volodymyr Zelensky and chaired a meeting of the “coalition of the willing,” a partnership comprising more than 35 nations supporting the country. The UK government has reaffirmed its commitment to increasing defense spending and domestic industrial capacity to address security threats.
On the ground in Kherson, the conflict remains intense. In areas near the Dnipro River, which serves as the de facto front line, residents face daily artillery fire, FPV drone attacks, and Russian glide bombs. Recent drone strikes in the region have wounded civilians, and many neighborhoods near the river have been evacuated due to the persistent danger.
