UK pro-Palestine voices report being debanked by banks
Several individuals in the United Kingdom expressing pro-Palestine views report being ‘debanked’ or facing financial restrictions. Emma Kamio, a small business owner, stated she was denied a mortgage remortgage with Lloyds due to ‘adverse media’. Her daughter, Leona Kamio, also had her bank accounts closed by Lloyds without explanation while awaiting trial.
Politician George Galloway reported that the Bank of Scotland, part of the Lloyds Banking Group, closed his personal account after 39 years without notice, affecting his pension and mortgage payments. Additionally, the left-wing news outlet The Canary reported being debanked by Lloyds, and writer Tariq Ali stated an unnamed bank refused a transfer from his account due to his opinions.
