UK pubs extend licensing hours for England‑Norway World Cup quarter‑final
The UK government has extended licensing hours in England and Wales so that pubs may remain open until 30 minutes after the final whistle of the England‑vs‑Norway World Cup quarter‑final in Miami. The measure builds on a temporary extension to 2 a.m. introduced after England’s previous match against Mexico was delayed by severe weather.
Policing Minister Sarah Jones said the change ensures fans can watch every minute of the game, even if extreme heat, lightning or other weather conditions cause a delay. The extension applies to this Saturday’s match, scheduled for a 10 p.m. BST kickoff (5 p.m. local time) at Hard Rock Stadium, and will be used for any future England matches in the tournament.
