UK rail services face disruptions in Cambridge and Surrey on Aug 3

Great Northern services between London King’s Cross and King’s Lynn were curtailed on Monday, Aug 3, after an overhead‑line fault in the Waterbeach area damaged train pantographs. The problem forced a reduction in available trains, prompting a shuttle service between Cambridge and King’s Lynn and limiting regular services to run only as far as Cambridge until the end of the day.

In Surrey, South Western Railway altered its timetable on Aug 3 and Aug 4 because of a heatwave with temperatures forecast at 32 °C. Trains on the Portsmouth line were diverted via Cobham and Stoke D’Abernon, and several services between Guildford and Woking were cancelled. Passengers were advised to allow extra travel time and to change trains at Guildford where necessary.
