UK raises state pension age to 67, full rollout by March 2028

The United Kingdom is increasing the state pension age from 66 to 67. The change began in April 2026 and will be fully implemented by March 2028. It affects anyone born between 6 April 1960 and 5 March 1961, whose pension age will fall between 66 years 1 month and 66 years 11 months.

The policy aims to curb rising pension costs as life expectancy rises, with Treasury forecasts estimating a saving of about £10 billion per year by 2030. A subsequent rise to age 68 is scheduled for 2044‑2046, pending review after the next parliamentary term.
