UK recruiters increasingly adopt AI for hiring processes
A recent survey in the United Kingdom indicates that approximately 89% of local recruiters plan to fully utilize artificial intelligence in their hiring processes this year. This trend comes as job vacancies in the country hit a five-year low, and over one million young people aged 16 to 25 are neither working nor studying.
Critics, including Andy Burnham, have raised concerns that AI-driven selection processes via platforms like Zoom or Teams may prevent young candidates from demonstrating their true personalities. Job seekers have described the current automated recruitment experience as “robotic and brutal,” often citing a lack of feedback. There are also concerns that AI may fail to accurately assess skills or inadvertently filter out qualified candidates, while fraudulent job postings continue to pose a risk to applicants.
