UK requests extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate

The United Kingdom has formally requested the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate from the United States. The brothers face serious allegations including rape, sexual assault, and human trafficking for sexual exploitation. British authorities submitted the request to the U.S. Department of State on September 9, 2026, which is currently reviewing the documentation.

Andrew Tate, 39, faces multiple charges including seven counts of rape and counts related to the organization of human trafficking and child pornography. Tristan Tate, 38, faces charges of sexual assault, rape, and human trafficking. Both men are also under investigation in Romania for crimes including money laundering and the abuse of minors.

The brothers have been held in pretrial detention at the Federal Detention Center in Miami since July 18, 2026. A U.S. judge recently denied bail, citing a flight risk. Reports from the facility describe unsanitary and overcrowded conditions, with detainees describing the environment as “hellish” due to issues with waste and hygiene.
