School season preparations focus on student support and routines
As the new academic year approaches, various initiatives and resources are being highlighted to support students and families during the transition back to school.
In the United Kingdom, the government is rolling out a national breakfast club programme under the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026. This legislation mandates free breakfast provision and at least 30 minutes of childcare for qualifying primary pupils to help combat child poverty and ensure students are ready to learn. Additionally, the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity provides family support workers to assist children facing serious illnesses in their transition back to the classroom.
General guidance for the season includes suggestions for re-establishing routines, such as adjusting sleep schedules and meal times, to reduce student anxiety and improve emotional wellbeing.
