UK schools undergo major multi-million pound expansions

Two major secondary school expansion projects have been launched in the United Kingdom to address rising demand for student places.

In Salisbury, Wiltshire Council has approved a £14.6 million expansion for Sarum Academy. The project, to be delivered by Morgan Sindall Construction, aims to increase capacity by 300 places. The development includes a new net-zero science block, refurbished teaching spaces, and enhanced sports facilities, including a new artificial pitch. Completion is expected by the end of 2027.

In Warwickshire, construction has commenced on a £24 million expansion at Avon Valley School & Performing Arts College in Rugby. Managed by Warwickshire County Council and delivered by Willmott Dixon, the project will increase the school's capacity from 1,100 to 1,400 pupils. The scheme features a new three-storey teaching block, a four-court sports hall, and a 20-place specialist provision for children with communication and interaction needs. The project is scheduled for completion in April 2028.
