UK selects ten Nigerian journalists for science and technology fellowship

Ten Nigerian journalists have been selected for a London Knowledge Exchange visit as part of the UK Media Excellence for Emerging Technology (UK MEET) Fellowship 2026. The selection follows an intensive residential training phase in Abuja, which included 28 journalists and content creators participating in practical exercises on science, technology, and innovation reporting.

The fellows, including Royal Ibeh of BusinessDay and Dare Akogun of PUNCH, will travel to London to engage with researchers, scientists, and experts. The program aims to improve public understanding of technological shifts, including artificial intelligence, digital health, biomedical research, climate change, and financial technology.

Supported by the UK Government through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in partnership with Imperial College London, the initiative focuses on translating complex scientific developments into accessible, evidence-based journalism. The training also addressed the implications of election technology, deepfakes, and verification processes.
