UK shoplifters sentenced after repeated thefts in Solihull and Newcastle

Connie Parsons, a 33‑year‑old with a distinctive tattoo, was banned from the town of Solihull for five years but continued a spree of shop thefts, carrying out 91 raids and repeatedly targeting a Sainsbury’s store on Stratford Road in Shirley. She pleaded guilty to 31 offences and faced sentencing for the full tally of 91 offences. West Midlands Police described her actions as a "consistent disregard for the law" and highlighted ongoing efforts to protect shopping areas.

In Newcastle, 47‑year‑old Caroline Pattinson, diagnosed with stage‑three cancer and receiving Universal Credit, stole goods worth £457 from a Morrisons store in Elswick on three occasions. She pleaded guilty to three counts of shop theft at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court, was fined £200 and ordered to pay £248.50 in compensation. Prosecutors noted her benefits had been sanctioned, which they said contributed to the thefts.
