UK shopper successfully avoids impulse buys during no-buy year challenge
A shopper in the United Kingdom has gained attention on TikTok for successfully navigating a retail trip without making impulse purchases as part of a ‘no-buy year’ challenge.
In a video shared by creator Emily (@shappilyeverafter2024), the shopper visited Home Bargains with a specific list including cat food and items for friends. Despite encountering various seasonal and themed merchandise—such as autumn mugs, Disney bedding, and Squishmallows—the shopper opted to leave the non-essential items on the shelves.
The trip resulted in a total spend of less than £20, consisting only of pet supplies, paracetamol, and a shower scrubber. The creator described the visit as a ‘successful non-shopping experience’ aimed at reducing clutter and maintaining a strict budget.
