UK Solar Housing Plan and European Fence Panels Boost Renewable Use
The UK government has unveiled a £15 billion program to fit solar panels on residential rooftops, targeting three million homes by 2030. The scheme includes subsidies, low‑interest loans and free installations for low‑income households, with full details expected by 2026.
A complementary technology emerging in Europe turns garden fences into vertical solar arrays. Panels mounted along fence lines can produce 1–1.5 kW per 10 m section, generating roughly 5–7.5 kWh per day without any roof work. The system is being promoted for homes, farms, industrial sites and airports as a cost‑effective way to expand solar capacity.
