UK Spritz Preferences Shift to Hugo Spritz as Google Searches Lead

On National Spritz Day (August 1) the United Kingdom saw a notable change in cocktail popularity. Google Trends recorded that the Hugo Spritz, an elderflower‑based drink, overtook the long‑standing Aperol Spritz in search interest for the first time, driven by younger drinkers aged 18‑29 who favour lighter, long‑lunch‑style drinks. The trend extends beyond the two classics, with rising curiosity about elderflower, rose, peach, frozen and non‑alcoholic spritz variations.

The market also welcomed the launch of Chandon Garden Spritz in the UK, an Australian‑origin product that blends a low‑sugar sparkling base with orange‑bitters. The brand’s ambassador, Franck Dedieu, said: “The Hugo Spritz has become the drink of the summer because it captures exactly how people want to socialise now.”
