UK supports Pakistani climate businesses seeking $51 million
Ten Pakistani businesses are seeking a combined $51 million over the next 12 months to scale up climate solutions in sectors including clean energy, transport, construction, farming, and waste. The businesses presented their proposals to investors, banks, and development finance institutions during a two-day roadshow in Karachi on October 27 and 28.
The Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) Pakistan Investor Roadshow provided these companies with technical and financial advice funded by the UK Government. The cohort currently maintains a three-year investment pipeline valued at $120 million. Between 2022 and 2024, the CFA programme supported 22 projects in Pakistan, helping to mobilise $40 million in climate project investments.
British Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, Alison Blackburne, noted that the UK-Pakistan climate partnership focuses on mobilising finance and strengthening resilience. This cooperation is supported by the UK-Pakistan Green Compact, signed last December, which serves as a framework for clean energy, policy dialogue, and international cooperation.
