UK towns award new Green Flag status to parks and community garden
Cheltenham in England received eight Green Flag awards for its parks, with Burrow’s Field in Leckhampton winning the accolade for the first time. The council highlighted the role of volunteers, staff and community groups in maintaining sites such as Sandford Park, Hatherley Park and others, noting the benefits for residents' wellbeing.
In Wales, the Parson’s Field community garden in Tregynon was granted its inaugural Green Flag Community Award. Volunteers and the management committee celebrated the recognition, emphasizing the garden’s environmental efforts, visitor facilities and strong local involvement.
