UK towns prepare for annual Remembrance Sunday services

Various communities across the United Kingdom are preparing for annual Remembrance Sunday services to honor military personnel who have served or died in conflict.

In Liverpool, the city will hold a service at St George’s Hall on November 8, marking 110 years since the Battle of the Somme. The event, themed ‘Liverpool Remembers’, will feature faith and community leaders, the Armed Forces, and veterans. The ceremony includes a two-minute silence, musical performances, and a parade from St George’s Plateau to the Cenotaph.

In Westbury, a traditional parade will assemble in the High Street car park before proceeding to the local War Memorial. The service will include the Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying, with participation from local dignitaries and cadets. To accommodate the event, Westbury High Street will be closed to vehicles between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.
