UK trading standards seize illegal tobacco and vapes in regional raids

Trading standards teams in Bolton and Nottinghamshire have conducted significant enforcement operations targeting the sale of illegal tobacco and vaping products.

In Nottinghamshire, a series of raids conducted by the County Council and local police resulted in the seizure of illegal cigarettes and vapes valued at £110,845. Following the investigation, Nottingham Magistrates Court issued three-month closure orders for four premises: Ezee Shop in Beeston, Your Shop in Eastwood, Hucknall Cloud in Hucknall, and Bucharest Mini Market in Sutton in Ashfield. Authorities noted that these shops continued to sell non-compliant products to both adults and children despite previous warnings.

In Bolton, Operation Machinize led to the seizure of 5,391 illegal cigarettes, 9 illicit vapes, and 203 bottles of vape liquid from seven premises. The operation also uncovered unsafe toys and non-licensed HRT products, with a combined street value of £10,982. Local officials stated these actions aim to protect consumers from unregulated products and support legitimate businesses.
