UK travelers face border delays and long-haul fatigue
Travelers in the United Kingdom are facing new challenges regarding summer holidays, ranging from physical exhaustion on long-haul flights to increased border friction when traveling to Europe.
Following the implementation of the EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES), British travelers entering the Schengen Area must now undergo biometric checks, including fingerprinting and facial imaging. This has resulted in reported lengthy queues at airports, with some travelers missing flights. Consequently, research indicates that 15% of people are considering UK staycations over EU trips, and 43% of UK adults report feeling more anxious or changing their travel plans due to these procedures.
Additionally, experts highlight that long-haul journeys can cause significant physical toll due to dry cabin air, jet lag, and disrupted sleep. To mitigate exhaustion, travel specialists recommend choosing aisle seats to facilitate regular movement and stretching, which can aid circulation and ease stiffness during extended periods of sitting.
