UK universities see rising interest from Portuguese and Brazilian students

The United Kingdom continues to attract large numbers of international students, with Portuguese applicants drawn by its globally recognised universities and concise degree programmes. Since Brexit, Portuguese students must obtain a Student Visa, presenting a university acceptance letter and proof of English proficiency.

From 4 August, Brazilian citizens can apply for the Chevening Scholarship, a UK‑government funded programme that finances a one‑year master’s degree, living costs and travel. The scheme seeks future leaders, emphasises diversity – 65 % of selected Brazilians are women, half identify as Black or Brown, and 40 % come from the North and Northeast regions – and requires applicants to hold a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of work experience.
