UK woman receives life-saving kidney transplant from Facebook stranger

Karen Davey, a 41-year-old mother of four from the United Kingdom, has received a life-saving kidney transplant from a stranger after turning to Facebook for help. Davey, who previously underwent a heart transplant ten years ago, faced kidney failure due to long-term medication use. After finding no compatible donors among friends or family, she posted a desperate plea on social media to avoid leaving her family without a mother.

Gary Summerfield, a 60-year-old security guard, responded to the post. After verifying his compatibility, he contacted Davey, and the transplant was successfully performed in July. Summerfield stated he felt compelled to help after seeing the impact the situation would have on Davey’s children.
