UK woman spends £4,100 on weight‑loss injections, loses only 11 lb

Karen Lay, a 56‑year‑old from Essex, spent more than £4,100 on prescription weight‑loss injections over 15 months. Despite increasing the dosage under medical guidance, she lost just 11 lb (5 kg). She switched to a second medication but saw no further reduction, while friends on the same treatment lost several stone.

Her doctor eventually advised her to stop the injections due to concerns about inadequate nutrition. Lay then adopted a conventional diet plan, which helped her lose over two stone (around 28 lb). She now warns others that the injections are not a “miracle fix,” saying, “I turned to injections out of sheer desperation.”
