Łukasiewicz Institutes Gain Research Grants and Defense Concession
Łukasiewicz – Instytut Mikroelektroniki i Fotoniki (IMiF) was awarded funding in the OPUS 30 and SONATA 21 programmes of the National Science Centre. The three projects target biodegradable packaging based on marine algae, integrated micromagnetic systems for lab‑on‑a‑chip medical diagnostics, and monolithic laser‑amplifier photonic devices for telecommunications. The work is carried out together with the University of Agriculture in Kraków, Wrocław University of Technology and the Institute of High Pressure of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and is led by Dr. hab. inż. Beata Synkiewicz‑Musialska, Dr. inż. Paweł Janus and Dr. Artur Trajnerowicz.
Separately, Łukasiewicz – Instytut Lotnictwa received Decision No. 12 from the Minister of the Interior and Administration, extending its concession (nr B‑003/2010). The expanded licence now permits the production and trade of specified explosives, ammunition, military and police equipment and related technologies, broadening the institute’s role in national security, defence research and the arms industry.
