Ukraina! Film Festival announces 11th edition program in Warsaw
The 11th edition of the Ukraina! Film Festival is scheduled to begin in Warsaw on November 2. The festival program features a diverse selection of Ukrainian cinema, including the opening film ‘Demons’ by Natalka Worozbyt. The film, which explores the turbulent years following the collapse of the Soviet Union, was completed despite the passing of actress Rusłana Pysanka during production.
Other notable entries include the Oscar-contending ‘Traces’ and Valentyn Vasyliev’s award-winning ‘For Victory!’, which has previously received recognition in Toronto and Odesa. The festival will showcase 8 feature films, 9 documentaries, and 23 short films, selected from approximately 150 submissions. A professional jury of Polish and Ukrainian creators will determine the winners of cash prizes.
The closing ceremony on November 8 will feature a performance by the Polish-Ukrainian ensemble Dagadana, accompanying a screening of Oleksandr Dovzhenko’s silent film ‘The Diplomat’s Briefcase’.
