Ukraine and allies fear shifts in U.S. support under Trump
Concerns are growing among Ukrainian and European allies regarding potential shifts in United States support for Kyiv under the administration of Donald Trump. Reports suggest that pressure from Washington may be impacting Ukraine's operational capabilities, specifically concerning intelligence sharing and satellite connectivity. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has noted instances where timely warnings regarding Russian ballistic missile attacks—critical for civilian protection—were not received.
While Donald Trump has denied that the U.S. has halted information exchange, there are fears that such intelligence may now be provided with less frequency or greater delay. Additionally, restrictions on Starlink connection speeds have raised concerns regarding the effectiveness of Ukrainian drone operations.
Separately, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has cautioned against undermining Ukraine's increased negotiating leverage. European leaders have expressed concern that U.S. efforts to reduce fuel prices through diplomatic pressure on Kyiv to cease attacks on Russian refineries could weaken Ukraine's position in the conflict without securing a meaningful end to the war.
