Ukraine and Canada negotiate 30-year strategic energy partnership

Ukraine is pursuing a 30‑year strategic energy agreement with Canada, according to Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal. The proposed deal would create an "energy security bridge" centered on the supply of Canadian liquefied natural gas (LNG) to help offset the damage Ukraine has suffered from repeated Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure.

The agreement aims to secure long‑term energy imports for Ukraine while expanding Canada's LNG export market, strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
