Ukraine and EU deny Russian claims of forced female mobilization

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has claimed that the European Union is pressuring Ukraine to implement compulsory mobilization for women. According to the SVR, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas described such a move as ‘a step in the right direction’ and suggested Ukraine follow the Israeli model of conscription.

Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation has rejected these allegations, stating the claims originated from the SVR without evidence. The agency clarified that while women may serve in the Ukrainian defense forces voluntarily, there are currently no plans or pending legislation to mandate compulsory mobilization for women.

European Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius has also denied that the EU is demanding such measures. Disinformation experts noted that the claims appear to stem from a misinterpretation of a media report regarding a female drone operator's personal views on conscription, rather than official EU policy.
