Ukraine and Germany discuss LNG supplies via German infrastructure
Ukraine and Germany have held discussions regarding the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Ukraine via German infrastructure. The talks, held between the energy ministers of both nations, also addressed the potential for European companies to utilize Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities.
This energy cooperation comes during a visit to Kyiv by Chancellor Friedrich Merz. While specific details regarding volumes, timelines, or participating companies were not disclosed, Ukraine has been actively seeking to diversify its energy imports and secure additional routes through European terminals.
In previous efforts, the Ukrainian state company Naftogaz secured its first delivery of American LNG through a German terminal in February, which was then transported via pipelines through Poland. Ukraine has also engaged in similar discussions with Lithuania to utilize the Klaipėda terminal and its own storage capacities.
